In Jewish Jazz, Mirjam van Dam is taking you to New York of the 1920s and 1930s. Jewish immigrants, refugees from Russia and surrounding areas, were becoming composers, songwriters and artists in 'Tin Pan Alley', the center of the New York music business. In the heyday of jazz, their theaters and music film industry helped in putting Broadway and Hollywood on the map. In doing so, they worked with musicians of color. Something that was not self-evident in those days!
